I'm Jayden Backs, a licensed mortgage broker based in Calgary and working with clients across Alberta. That's the short version. Here's the longer one.

Home is Alberta

I was born and raised in Alberta. I spent a good part of my adult life living in other places, and when it came time to start a family, my wife and I knew exactly where we wanted to be. We're raising our three sons on the same farm I grew up on, a few minutes down the road from their grandparents, the way I want them to grow up.

My wife runs her own business as an accountant, so our kitchen table sees more spreadsheets than most. Between us, we know what it is to budget carefully, take a risk on something, and plan around a family. When I'm not working you'll usually find me at a rink, where I still play hockey and coach it, or out hiking, biking, and camping in Alberta's parks with the boys while they try every sport they can.

Those years living away from home taught me something useful for this job: I know what it feels like to land somewhere new and start over. It's why I have real patience for people moving to Alberta and to Canada for the first time. Sorting out a mortgage in an unfamiliar system is hard enough without a broker who rushes you through it.
